Duan Jansen got the ball to swing and beat King’s bat repeatedly in the first over after the Patriots chose to bowl first in the season opener. The start for Tallawahs was a nervy one, until the fourth over where King went after Akila Dananjaya to hit two fours and a six off successive deliveries to get going. From 7/0 off 3 overs, Tallawahs flew to 48/0 in 6 overs – King hitting 39 of those. Lewis slowly got into the groove too, hitting two sixes off Jaden Carmicheal in the ninth over and sending a Dwayne Bravo slower one out of the ground in the 10th. By the 12th over, King reached his half-century – off 36 balls – and set himself up for a late flourish. Lewis became debutant Carmichael’s first wicket in the 15th over, falling two short of a half-century, but that paved the way for the arrival of Powell and the ensuing mayhem.
